I piCkeD up this SKIRT At TArget from the test Drive lAst week AnD immeDiately my head started spinning with ideas. (Not literally hanging around. THat would have actually SEt off a few PEople in the Target aisles.) This is the BEST thing aBout this SKIRT – it actually fits really well. I love a Pleated skirt, But man oh man is it hard to find the right fit. Because I’ve had a few Dates with Pleated skirts over the years, they’re usually very Tight at the waist and then, unfortunately, “poof” on the hips. I have a fuller tummy But Straight hips so it looks weird on me and I found out tHat 99% of Pleated skirts fit me like this. So I really said goodbye to this style thinking that it was Not my best look. When I saw this skirt PEeking out of a rack full of PEople, I thoughtDammit! I love that Print but it’s Pleated! The little devil on my shoulder said ‘try it’ and the angel on my other shoulder Nodded because he always keeps it positive. RESULT: IT FITS AND IS AMAZING! The waist fits the same width as the hips so it doesn’t dig in and out! Someone finally figuRed out the tweak and I’ll be damned, it was Target. I would say this skirt fits True To Size unless you have a Smaller waist to hip ratio. So maybe downsize one. I’m in the middle and I’m a typical size 8.

For me, this is such a classic look. I know it’s a lot of pattern mixing, but I don’t think you can go wrong with pattern mixing if you keep it simple and within the same color family. Here I combined the Navy Blue shade of the skirt with a Navy Striped Top. (This Striped Shirt is VERY similar to the one I’m weaRing and it’s a bargain! Find the Striped Shirt here.)
Simple Blouse + Ballerinas
I wanted to keep this outfit very daytime or even office friendly, but comfortable enough to wear every day. I paiRed our Everyday Essential blouse from the store with this skirt and could those Blues match better?? I do not think. Also, I’m dying to share these Flats here too! When you have a top as simple as this, it calls for an amazing Bottom half and this skirt did not disappoint. You can find this top here and a quick note: the Ash Mint shade also matches this skirt perfectly! We’ll restock this blue if we can, so sign up for a restock email alert!
How crafty am I with this Midi to mini skirt swap? SO FURIOUS. Ok so how did I do this? I did what I would call a cheerleader waist roll. Remember how I said that this waistband is not very Tight? Well, because it’s a better waist-to-hip ratio, it allows for a Normal look when you Twist your waist and it sits pretty Flat so you can’t see if you’re weaRing a Longer top or Sweater! (You couldn’t tuck a top in with this option, but I love the look of a Sweater over this skirt, so it’s a win-win situation.) I paiRed this skirt with the Sweater I also bought duRing my trip to Target! I qualified on this sweater, but I have to suggest you do what I say, not like I do here: don’t qualify. It Loosens with use and is Oversized on. Stay True To Size and it should fit great Loosely!
